Covid-19 Booking Terms & Conditions
All deposits received are separated from standard operational costs and are held in a separate call account by Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats, ensuring security of booking funds received.
Existing Confirmed Bookings
The below Terms & Conditions will apply to all reservations within a 60-day period of travel date:
- If a booking is cancelled due to Government (from either parties) or WHO restrictions that prevents guests from travelling due to COVID-19, Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats will refund the deposit and/or cancellation fee and/or any full payment made to it
- If a booking is cancelled due to Lodge closure relating to COVID-19 that prevents guests from travelling, Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats will refund the deposit and / or cancellation fee and / or any full payments made to it
- A 3% admin fee will be retained on any refunded fees
- If a booking is cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test, (official proof to be supplied), Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats will apply the credit for future use for travel based on a reasonably agreed time frame, within similar seasonality, subject to availability
- In the event of a deferment due to a positive COVID-19 test, applicable rate increases in accommodation and/or Conservation Fees may be raised
If a Guest Develops Covid-19 Symptoms During Their Stay
If a guest develops COVID-19 symptoms at the lodge (or arrives with COVID-19 symptoms at the lodge), the Guest agrees to the following procedure:
- If a guest has symptoms on arrival, and they are unable to immediately return home, a medical professional will be contacted, and guests will be accommodated in a designated COVID-19 room
- Based on the medical professional’s recommendation, the guest will either be referred for a COVID-19 test, examined, recommended to continue self-isolating with or without medication, or referred directly to a hospital for admission
- Any guest with suspected COVID-19 will remain isolated in a separate designated room, with their own bathroom
- Should a guest require isolation at the lodge for longer than the booking period, additional accommodation and extra costs will be for the guests own account to be settled at check-out
- A guest with suspected COVID-19 may not participate in activities or meals – they will be served at a safe distance by a staff member at their room
- One staff member, fully trained on the latest health protocols, as set out by leading authorities, will be assigned as the point person for the suspected case. Any vehicle or room used for transport or accommodation of a suspected case will be deep cleaned and decontaminated immediately thereafter
- It is the guests sole and absolute responsibility to ensure that they are aware of and take any necessary health precautions recommended or required for travel to Thornybush Nature Reserve, as well as to declare their medical status in relation to COVID-19 or any other Communicable Diseases
Travel Insurance
It is the guests’ sole and absolute responsibility to ensure that they have adequate and suitable comprehensive travel and medical insurance in place to cover themselves, as well as any dependants | travel companions. This insurance should include cover in respect of, but not limited to, the following eventualities:
- Cancellation or curtailment of the booking
- Emergency evacuation expenses / medical expenses / hometown repatriation expenses
- Damage and/or theft and/or loss of personal property, baggage, money
- Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats, their representatives, directors, officers, employees and agents will not be responsible for any damage, loss, costs or expenses incurred or suffered by the guest, or the guest’s dependents or travelling companions as a result of or in connection with any of the abovementioned events.
- Guests will be charged directly by the relevant service providers for any emergency services they may require and may find themselves in a position unable to access such services should they not be carrying the relevant insurance cover
